PREGNANCY STRETCH MARKS:

My name is Hannah Bajor the Pregnancy Super Coach with over twenty years in the field taking care of women before, during and after their pregnancy.

These are stretch marks that are associated from pregnancy. So, lets look at the stretch marks that you get from pregnancy. Well, pregnancy stretch marks are called striae gravidarum. It is just stripes as a result of pregnancy.

Stretch marks are very common in your first baby and normally, you know, with your first pregnancy they are going to be very red in color. Why do you get stretch marks. The reason is because, if you can just imagine that the skin is one of the biggest organ that you have got in your body and if you are in good shape and you have a got nice tight tummy, then what will happen as the baby grows.

The baby is going to grow and stretch and expand every single cells within the skin, and as it does that, the skin itself can thin out a little bit more in some areas, in others like a little rip inside the skin, but the skin does not really rip, and you end up producing these long red marks like if you got a red mark called stretch marks down your belly.

Sometimes, there can be just a couple of stretch marks, other times your whole tummy can be covered with them, and they are awful looking when they get that bad, but sure enough that is part and parcel of pregnancy.

A lot of times, you can also get these stretch marks on your breast as your breast grows. Stretch marks can be on your hips, on your side, and your buttock, and you may not even get them at all. You are lucky if you do not get them.

Now, you know, after you have the baby and the good thing is that these red stretch marks that was associated with your pregnancy tends to fade and go away. After delivery they become silvery lines, and most times you will end up not seeing them at all. It may take a month or a couple of months after the baby, but sometimes you can permanently have these little silver lines throughout your body.

Again, not everybody get these stretch marks. Can you prevent the stretch marks. Well, a lot of people will tell you that if you hydrate your skin, and I do believe that if you hydrate your skin from inside and outside, then that is the best you can do to try to prevent stretch marks happening.

So, you hydrate your skin internally by drinking at least 10 glasses of water every day. Now, that does not mean tea, coffee or soda. It means 10 glasses of water everyday during your pregnancy and on top of that at least twice a day cover your whole body with a nice lotion, morning and evening. Rub nice lotion into your body so it hydrates the skin from the outside, and hopefully you will reduce the amount of stretch marks you get, and if not, may be you might even prevent them altogether. The more you are informed about your pregnancy, the better pregnancy you are going to have.
