My name is Hannah Bajor the Pregnancy Super Coach with
over twenty years in the field taking care of women before, during
and after their pregnancy.
Postpartum depression is
probably a lot more common than you think. It is not unusual after you
have the baby to go through a period of adjustments.
Now, all women have a tendency to go through a high
and low hormones, which can cause a little bit of depression or the baby
blues and this happens about day 3 or day 10 or 14 after the baby. Post
partum blues is completely different than postpartum depression.
If you are feeling bad and down in the dumps on about
day 3, 10 or 14 just know there are on average days where there is a
huge decrease in your hormones and so you start crying for no reason.
Somebody could just say that they like the color of your dress and you
start crying and you think that they are not being sincere with you. So
it is crying for no reason and just feeling exhausted that is the
postpartum blues.
Now postpartum depression is a whole different kettle
of fish and postpartum depression can last anywhere for up to a year
after you have the baby. If you are suffering from postpartum depression
it normally comes on slow where you start feeling very low in yourself,
you start losing interest in life, you are not bothered about yourself
or your baby.
You may be having some bad thoughts about the baby
like you think you are not a good mother, you want to hide the baby who
came into your life. You might even have thoughts of hurting the baby or
get rid of the baby. These are very serious signs of postpartum
depression.
On the other hand you could have been totally normal
for a couple of months postpartum, then boom you go into a depression.
They say women who are more prone to postpartum depression are woman who
have a lot responsibility on their shoulder, woman where the husband is
not as supportive as the wife would like him to be, single mothers.
Even thought we say that, but anyone can suffer from
postpartum depression. There is not really like a specific category of
woman that we could say experience post partum depression.
If post partum depression happens to you then you
need to do something about it and you need to get some help. So, if you
are feeling down in the dumps, it just might be something very mild to
very severe.
I offer as a health coach healing and coaching on the
phone. So, if you worried about yourself you might like to get an
appointment with me and during that appointment then I can guide you as
to how bad the depression is and if you do need to go and get some
professional help.
Sometime, I have just had woman that are crying all
the time and just are having a really hard time and they have a session
with me and certainly whatever happens during the session that the woman
starts feeling so much better about yourself, and better about your role
as a mother. Other times you actually could have genuine depression, I
tell you have got to go and be checked up by a physician.
So if you are experiencing
postpartum depression please do not be afraid to reach out for help. You
are not the only woman out there that is suffering from this condition
and help is available and please know that it will pass in time and you
will soon get your life back together, but you need help.
